Jesus christ. I want you backing me in every fight from now onwards.

[Removed image, because it seemed a little dick measurey. And I have no intention of measuring against ol' three-legged Farris.]

I would hope. The Cottoning is nigh! So, I started thinking about CoC characters. *grin*

Just a little FYI - I'm seriously thinking that I'm going to use the Storyteller System for this instead of the actual CoC ruleset because I hate percentile systems.

I will do some reading today on CoC, and try to find a character creation site somewhere - unless we're doing something custom?

It's up to you guys, really, I guess.

If I'm the only one that doesn't like percentile systems then I can bite the bullet and we'll use CoC rules.

Otherwise I'd be game to port WoD rules into CoC setting.

I would be totally ok With WoD rules in a CoC setting. Gives us a common ground to work with, and a better opportunity to jump into the action.

Mortal creation rules, at that point then? I can't find any concrete mortal character creation rules, short of rolling up Hunters. Also, I will assume that Magic will be run as Numina?

Attributes points of 5/4/2
Abilities of 11/7/5
Backgrounds of 3
Virtues of 7

Using V20 rules for the CoC setting sounds great to me. Should let us focus more on the world and not so much on figuring the rules out since we're all familiar enough with d10s.

Looks like V20 it is then. I'll do some digging tonight and get back with definitive character sheets and dot totals to allocate.

Badass. What're your thoughts on setting/time period/etc.? Don't know how diverse CoC is with setting options, I just know all Lovecraft's stuff was pre-WWI because he was writing it contemporarily.

I have a series of ideas that take place in the Great Depression Era. So let's plan on say Summertime 1931.

ALSO this is very much a co-operative game so I'm going to insist up front that you all build characters that are able to work together.

I can post some initial plot hooks for the first leg of "adventure" for you guys to build concepts around or off of.

...or perish! Or perish anyways, because CoC.

Shall we encourage a resurgence of The Cottoning? A plantation man sent up to New England for schooling would fit the setting very nicely, and so long as there was reason for him to tolerate it, the rest of us could mooch off his resources Very Happy

No hot ideas for myself just yet. Knee-jerk is to steal a character from Gangs of New York, but that's 70 years too early. Hrm...

It was fairly common in the late 20s and early 30s for the rich to basically support friends that would live/work/hang out with them.

So that idea is plausible

A common trope of CoC is that there's a rich high-society type that runs around with a detective friend for fun and excitement. 'slumming it' so to speak for the sense of adventure.

Idea spawned during my commute is to play "future Mrs. Cotton", a New York dilettante whose father is a banker and who dabbles in Egyptology with family money. So... Pike's mom, to make that confession up front. Family-arranged marriage to diversify both their power bases and (a century delayed) start to reconcile that the Civil War is over in the wake of the World War.

On the more aggressive side, Dr. Watson. No Holmes required, just a veteran war-doctor with a taste for adventure that competes with his sensible upbringing and outstanding citizenship, and who has found a balance between his desires by offering service to the police whenever his medical practice allows.

I've activated the default chatbox that's built-in to the forumotion code...I can build in a new Chatango Widget if we want it though. I used the Chatango app on my phone all the time.

To clarify, I didn't mean the Cottoning as a character concept, but rather as more of an experience. Razz

I say we make Jarrod play the Southern Gentleman from the old family plantation money...make him stretch the ole RP muscles.

Also! Just to make sure, you guys can see the Character Sheets and Play Area forums, right?
